About Troop 1876

Troop 1876 has been part of the Arvada community since 1999 and is proudly chartered by Christ Community Covenant Church.

We are a Scout-led troop built around the patrol method, giving Scouts meaningful opportunities to lead, make decisions, solve problems, work as a team, and develop confidence. Scouts learn by doing, with experienced youth leaders and adult volunteers there to provide guidance and support along the way.

Adventure Made Accessible

From the beginning, Troop 1876 has believed that great Scouting experiences should be accessible to every family. We’re thoughtful about costs and resources so we can provide meaningful adventures while keeping participation as affordable as possible.

That philosophy helped build our strong backpacking and High Adventure tradition. With around six backpacking trips each year, Scouts have repeated opportunities to develop backcountry skills, test their gear, become more self-sufficient, and prepare for bigger adventures.

From First Backpack to High Adventure

New Scouts aren't expected to tackle a demanding backcountry trip right away. Introductory backpacking trips give younger and newer Scouts a chance to test their gear, learn trail skills, and get comfortable in the backcountry.

As their skills and confidence grow, Scouts progress to more challenging trips and High Adventure experiences, including opportunities through Philmont Scout Ranch, Northern Tier, and Sea Base. Troop 1876 is currently preparing for a Sea Base High Adventure trip in 2028.

Our approach is simple: learn the skills, practice them often, and take on bigger adventures.

More Than Backpacking

Backpacking is a big part of Troop 1876, but it's far from all we do. Scouts enjoy hiking, fishing, archery and shooting sports, camping, summer Scout camp, community service, and other outdoor adventures throughout the year.

We generally camp at least once each month and attend a weeklong summer Scout camp each year, providing opportunities for advancement, merit badges, new experiences, and plenty of time outdoors.

Service & Community

Troop 1876 participates in community service projects throughout the year, giving Scouts opportunities to serve others and put the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law into action.

Troop 1876 meets Mondays at 7:00 PM at Christ Community Covenant Church in Arvada.

No previous Scouting or outdoor experience is necessary. New Scouts build their skills, confidence, and independence one adventure at a time.
